Alfonso I of Portugal, known as The Conqueror, was born on July 25th, 1100 in Guimaraes, Braga, Portugal.  The Conqueror's father was Henri I of Bourgogne and his mother was Teressa Alfonsez of Castile.  His paternal grandparents were Duke Henri of Bourgogne and Sibylle of Barcelona; his maternal grandparents were King Alfonso VI Fernandez of Castile & Leon and Agnes of Pointou.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 85 on December 6th, 1185 in Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal.  He was buried in Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal.

‌The Conqueror and Maud (Matilda) of Savoy were married in a religious ceremony in 1146.  They had a daughter named Urraca Alfonsez of Portugal.
