Gonzelon I Duke of was born in 0967 in Verdun Meuse France.1 Gonzelon I Duke of's father was Gottfried "The Old" Count of Verdun and his mother was Matilda Billung of Saxony. His paternal grandparents were Gozelo , Count of Bidgau Ardennes and Uda von Metz; his maternal grandparents were Hermann Billung of Saxony and Hildegarde von Westerbourg. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Hermann Count of, Frederick, Gottfried I Duke of Lower, Irmgard, Bonne Adelaide de, Gerberge Of, Ermentrude de, Gerberge and Regilla. He had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Frederick De, Arnoul II, Jean of Tonnbridge, Gonselon I Le Grand D', Fredrick Of, Maud St Dame, Bertha Countess of, Bonne Adelaide, Gerberge Of and Regilla Ermentrude.
