Renaud I Count of was born about 1077 in Bar-Le-Duc,Meuse,France.  Renaud I Count of's father was Thierry II De Montbelliard Comte de Bar-Le-Duc and his mother was Ermentrude of Burgundy.  His paternal grandparents were Louis II of Montbelliard and Sophia Countess of Bar-Le-Duc; his maternal grandparents were Guillaume I "The Great" of Bourgogne and Stephanie de Longwy. He had a brother and two sisters, named Thierry III de, Mathilde and Marguerite De Montbelliard.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died on June 24th, 1150.  He was buried in Mousson.

‌Renaud I Count of and Gisele de were married in a religious ceremony in 1120 in <Of,Dampmartin,Ile DE France,France>.  They had a son and four daughters, named Renaud II Count of, Clemence Of, Etiennette De, Agnes De and Mathilde De.
