Sarah Ann was born on June 21st, 1842 in Upsom Co, GA.1 Sarah Ann's father was Simeon Thomas Stough and her mother was Matilda Petrey. Her maternal grandfather was William Petery. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Robert Washington, Michael Monroe, John B., Daniel Jackson, Simeon Calhoun, George Wesley, Susan Elizabeth, Martha Matilda, Adeline and Frances Jane. She was the fourth youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 66 on October 1st, 1908 in Navarro Co., TX. She was buried in Dresden Cemetery, Dresden, Navarro Co., TX.1 1 
Sarah Ann and James Monroe were married in a religious ceremony on March 10th, 1859 in Lowndes Co., AL.1 They had six sons and two daughters, named Thomas Jefferson, John Robert, George Flex, D. F., Hall H., Simean F., Martha Adeline and Viola C..
