George Ellis Gothard 
George Ellis was born on May 1st, 1884 in Coosa Co., AL.1 George Ellis' father was George H. Gothard and his mother was Mariah Elizabeth Bridges. His paternal grandparents were Travis Glenn Gothard and Aletha Williams; his maternal grandparents were William Bridges and Delila Jane Jacks. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Travis Glenn, William Stephens, Ira J., Eric A., Jessie, Lula M., Roxie and Cora. He died at the age of 79 in June 1963 in AL. He was buried in Thelma Baptist Cemetery, Wallsboro, Elmore Co., AL. Located on Weoka Rd. north of Wetumpak, AL.1 1 General Notes

Hi Ron: Thanks for the infor you sent on Emily Missouri Jones and Ellis
Gothard. Emily was my grandmother's sister. I knew them very well as
they came to New Mexico and lived near my grandparents for a couple of
years and Uncle Ellis worked for my step-father in the U.S. Bureau of
Reclamation. They went back to Alabama as Aunt Emily missed her beloved
Alabama and her family there. They were very sweet people. Aunt Emily
died 5 April 1960 and is buried in the Thelma Baptist Cemetery at
Wallsboro, Alabama. Uncle Ellis died in 1961 and is buried near his
wife. They had no children. When they lived near us, our son John was
just a toddle and they dearly loved him and
spoiled him every chance they got. Have many fond memories of them.
