Virginia was born in 1875 in Buchanan County,Virginia. Virginia's father was Meshack Meadows and her mother was Julie Fletcher. Her paternal grandparents were Drewey Haston Meadows and Rebecca Ratliff; her maternal grandparents were Eli Fletcher and Maggie Unknown. She had three brothers and a sister, named James Elbert, Major Whitten, Male and Mary Elizabeth. She was the youngest of the five children. She had a half-brother named John Haston.-
