Andrew J. Zike 
Andrew J. was born on October 3rd, 1838 in Lawrence County, Indiana. Andrew J.'s father was Jacob Zike and his mother was Mary Dianna Baugh. His paternal grandparents were Jacob "Zeuch" Zike and Katherine Lucinda Avey; his maternal grandparents were George Wiseman and Elizabeth Baugh. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Samuel William, Jacob Woodard, Cassinda, America Jane, Rebecca, Malinda, Lucindia, Susannah and Margarette. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 71 on May 28th, 1910 in Monroe County, Perry Township, Indiana. He was buried in Clover Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, Indiana.General Notes
Andrew and Martha reared their family in Lawrence and Monroe Counties in
Indiana, with most of the time around Harrodsburg. Andrew was a farmer,
but spent most of his adult life working in the Indiana Limestone
quarries, numbers 28, 18, and National. The National quarry was the last
and was the place where he met his death in an accident.
Andrew attended the McCray School one mile south of Harrodsburg, Monroe
County, Indiana. This building was also used as a Baptist Church, where
Andrew's father, Jacob, was a Deacon. Andrew was noted for his ability as
a speller at community spelling bees.
He was a giant in strength and loved to demonstrate it in his wrestling.
On the day that he was killed, he penned two men to the ground in this
art. Very good for a man of 72 years. He was noted for his kindness
toward children.
