David Francis Shields 
David Francis was born on February 19th, 1867 in Monroe County, Indiana. David Francis' father was David Thomas Shields and his mother was Sarah Frances Mize. His paternal grandparents were William Henry Harrison Shields and Mary Ellen Hudlin. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Charles Mahlon, James Henry, Nathan Homer, Troy, Mary Elizabeth, Lillie Christina, Laura Agnes, Sarah Jane "Jennie", Almeda, Ola Mae and Rosa Leona. He was the second oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 86 on December 13th, 1953 in Monroe County, Indiana. He was buried on December 17th, 1953 in Knight Ridge Cemetery, Salt Creek Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana.-
