Charles Mahlon Shields 
Charles Mahlon was born on March 11th, 1871. Charles Mahlon's father was David Thomas Shields and his mother was Sarah Frances Mize. His paternal grandparents were William Henry Harrison Shields and Mary Ellen Hudlin. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named David Francis, James Henry, Nathan Homer, Troy, Mary Elizabeth, Lillie Christina, Laura Agnes, Sarah Jane "Jennie", Almeda, Ola Mae and Rosa Leona. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 1 in March 1872 in Monroe County, Indiana. He was buried in Shield's Cemetery, Polk Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana.-
