Sidney Stanhope,Sr. was born in 1871. Sidney Stanhope,Sr.'s father was John Marshall Odell and his mother was Helen Frances Fields. His paternal grandparents were Sidney Stanhope Odell and Sarah Owens; his maternal grandparents were John Jesse Fields and Frances A. Lancaster. He had a brother and four sisters, named John, Florence, Claudia, Sarah and Sara Frances. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 78 in May 1949.-
