His paternal grandparents were John Matthew Floyd and Anis Smith; his maternal grandparents were James Madison Shields and Mary Jane Heltonburg. He had two brothers and a sister, named ?, Damon Clifford and Mary Anis. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 76 on April 15th, 1974 in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Delaware Co., Indiana. He was buried on April 18th, 1974 in Matthews Cemetery, Matthews, Grant Co., Indiana.-
