Robert Asa was born on December 12th, 1757. Robert Asa's father was James Beall and his mother was Elizabeth Edmonston. His paternal grandparents were James Beall and Mary Ann Edmonston; his maternal grandparents were Archibald Edmonston and Dorothy Brooke. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Alexander Edmonston, James Brooke, Archibald Allen, Thomas Crampton, Basil Musgrove, Zebedee, James, Dorothy Brooke, Celia, Elizabeth Brooke and Mary. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children.-
