‌David and Marie were married in a religious ceremony about 1829 in Virginia.  They had six sons and four daughters, named Alfred Melton, Francis David, John W., Alexander, Thomas Oscar, Harvey, Eliza Jane, Virginia Ann, Nancy and Sarah.
