Martha Shipley 
Martha was born in 1889 in Virginia. Martha's father was Samuel Augustus Shipley and her mother was Sarah Elizabeth Gilley. Her paternal grandparents were John Childers Shipley and Nancy Martitia Green. She had five brothers and a sister, named Napoleon Benjamin, Loyd Cleveland, Ballard Henry, John Childers, Garland David and Orena Bell. She was the third oldest of the seven children.
