Oliver Hazard Kite 
Oliver Hazard was born in 1830 in Page County, Virginia. Oliver Hazard's father was Jacob C. Kite and his mother was Catherine Slagel. His paternal grandparents were Martin Kite and Catharine Kiser; his maternal grandparents were George Slagel and Catherine Kainath. He had four brothers and five sisters, named William H., George D., Jacob R., Martin Van Buren, Isabella Perkey, Julia Ann, Mary Catherine, Angelina and Elizabeth. He was the fifth youngest of the ten children.-
