Rebecca's father was Thomas Blount Hill and her mother was Maria T. Simpson. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Blount Hill and Rebecca Norfleet. She had two brothers and four sisters, named John Boyd, Thomas Blount, Elizabeth, Mary Alice, Maria Louisa and Sarah Simpson.-
