Sarah Frances was born on November 26th, 1837 in , , GA. Sarah Frances' father was Micajah Fort Champion and her mother was Elizabeth Martin. Her paternal grandparents were William Champion and Mary Fort; her maternal grandparents were George Martin and Lavenia Geiger. She had nine brothers and three sisters, named William, George Martin, John Fort, Andrew Fort, Elias Fort, Marion Eley, Micajah James, David Fort, Daniel Huff, Martha F., Lavenia and Rebecca. She was the youngest of the thirteen children.-
