Jane was born in 1783 in Sullivan County, Tennesse.  Jane's father was William Anderson and her mother was Jane Brian. She had six brothers and five sisters, named James, John, William, Andrew, Thomas Brian, Samuel, Sarah, Susannah, Mary, Margaret and Elizabeth.  She was the second youngest of the twelve children.
