Susannah was born in 1771 in Virginia.  Susannah's father was William Anderson and her mother was Jane Brian. She had six brothers and five sisters, named James, John, William, Andrew, Thomas Brian, Samuel, Sarah, Mary, Margaret, Jane and Elizabeth.  She was the fifth oldest of the twelve children.
