His paternal grandparents were Richard Townsend and Millicent Somers; his maternal grandparents were Henry Young and Abigail Corson. He had a brother and a sister, named Henry and Hannah. He was the youngest of the three children. He had a half-brother named David. He died at the age of 77 in 1832 in , Cape May, NJ.1 -
