Ethelflaed Lady of Mercia 
Ethelflaed was born in 0869 in England.1 Ethelflaed's father was Alfred the Great King of England and her mother was Ealhswith of the Gaini. Her paternal grandparents were Aethelwulf King of Wessex and Osburga of the Isle of Wright; her maternal grandparents were AEthelred Mucil Ealdorman of Mercia and Eadburga of Mercia. She had a brother and a sister, named Edward the Elder and Elfthryth. She was the second oldest of the three children. She died at the age of 49 in 0918 in Tamworth, Straff, England.1 General Notes

This princess, whose masculine virtues and martial exploits are celebrated in
the highest strains of panegyric by our ancient historians, administered the
Government of Mercia, after the death of her brother Edward in his operation
against the common enemy, the Dane.
