William Vance Hefley 
William Vance was born on July 25th, 1820 in , Haywood, NC. William Vance's father was Martin Hefley and his mother was Clarissa Ann Mahaffey. His paternal grandparents were Phillip Thomas Hefley and Mary Dever; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Mahaffey and Elizabeth Cathey. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Joseph Mahaffey, Phillip Jackson, George Whitfield, Samuel M, Eliza and Harriet Caroline. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 75 on January 10th, 1896 in Cameron, Milam, TX.General Notes
