Joseph Mahaffey Hefley 
Joseph Mahaffey was born on August 27th, 1822 in , Haywood, NC. Joseph Mahaffey's father was Martin Hefley and his mother was Clarissa Ann Mahaffey. His paternal grandparents were Phillip Thomas Hefley and Mary Dever; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Mahaffey and Elizabeth Cathey. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William Vance, Phillip Jackson, George Whitfield, Samuel M, Eliza and Harriet Caroline. He was the third oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 29 on April 4th, 1852 in Nashville, Davidson, TN. He was buried in Antioch Cemetery.-
