Danuta was born on April 28th, 1938.  Danuta's father was Michał Piwowarczyk and her mother was Stefania Piwowarczyk (Orczyk).  Her paternal grandparents were Wojciech Piwowarczyk and Joanna Piwowarczyk (Suchta). She had three brothers named Jerzy, Zdzisław and Januariusz.  She is the second youngest of the four children.
