Zygmunt was born on February 3rd, 1953 in Wellington, New Zealand and his baptism was conducted by the priest.1   Zygmunt's father was Ginter (Gienek) Poczwa and his mother is Urszula Poczwa (Gawronek).  His paternal grandparents were Maksymilian (?) Poczwa and Marta Poczwa (Małkowska); his maternal grandparents were Michał Gawronek and Henryka Gawronek (Skrzypczyńska). He had a brother and two sisters, named Henryk, Barbara (Basia) and Aleksandra (Ola).  He was the second youngest of the four children.  Zygmunt is no longer alive.

Zygmunt and Valerie were married.  They had five sons named Hayden, Beaumont, Joshua, Julian and Anton.
