Magdalena Christina's father was Adriaan Carel Steensma and her mother was Rosina Johanna Hendrina van Blerk (Steensma). Her maternal grandparents were Rogier Bernhadus van Blerk and Martha Basina Dorothea van de Kaap. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Jan Willem, Carel Rosier Bernardus, Philip Christiaan, Philip Jan Hendrik, Rozier Bernardus, Aletta Geertruyda Willemina, Rosina Johanna Hendrina, Johanna Hendrina and Wilhelmina Rosina.-
