Samuel Dow

Samuel was born about 1710. Samuel's father was Joseph Dow and his mother was Mary. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Dow and Mary Challis. He had a brother named John. He was the older of the two children.

General Notes
- Samuel outlived his father by many years and no reason appears why he should not have been his father's administrator. He lived on or near the homestead. Some error in dates occurs in connection with his estate. His will is dated December 17, 1762, probated August 30, 1773; apparently unsettled or re-opened in 1778. The will mentions three children as being still minors. A petition by his heirs mentions Joanna as wife of Josiah Shove, a marriage mad in 1778, and mentions Reuben as father of Reuben and Nabby. Now, Reuben Jr. was born in 1790.
