Joseph Dow

Joseph was born on February 16th, 1688. Joseph's father was Joseph Dow and his mother was Mary Challis. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Dow and Mary Sanborn; his maternal grandparents were Lt Philip Challis and Mary Sargent. He had three brothers and a sister, named John, James, Philip and Mary. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Eliphaz, Noah, Bildad, Judah, Dow and Dow. He died at the age of 50 in 1738.

General Notes
- Already we find that this line is far less known than Captain Henry Dow's, the latter so well kept in hand by History of Hampton. Joseph bought in 1725 a half interest in the historic tidewater grist mill built before 1660 by Andrew Greeley in Salisbury, but this he sold in 1728 or 1729. He was thrifty, his wife Mary, and he died some time in 1738.
