Col Josiah Dow

Josiah was born on November 14th, 1803. Josiah's father was Josiah Dow and his mother was Hannah Moulton. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Dow and Dorothy Blake; his maternal grandparents are John Moulton and Mary Marston. He had a brother and a sister, named Joseph and Hannah. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died after 1870.

General Notes
- Josiah was prominent in Hampton until he moved in May of 1870 to Charlton, Massachusetts. In 1827 he was made captain of the local rifle company and went to Boston to buy rifles. They were considered very handsome and cost $11 each. The company became the crack one of the regiment and Josiah became Colonel in 1832, always keeping the title. An organizer of the first fire company in Hampton and in 1833 prosecutor of illegal liquor sellers.
