Deacon Samuel Dow

Samuel was born on June 4th, 1693. Samuel's father was Deacon Samuel Dow and his mother was Abigail Hobbs. His paternal grandparents were Capt Henry Dow and Hannah Page; his maternal grandparents are Morris Hobbs and Sarah Easton. He had a brother and five sisters, and also two siblings of unknown gender, named Joseph, Hannah, Abigail, Sarah, Rachel, Mehitable, Dow and Dow. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He had a half-sister named Hannah. He died at the age of 61 on April 9th, 1755 in Hampton, New Hampshire.

General Notes
- Samuel died of an "awful fever." He succeeded his father as deacon, was generally known as Deacon Samuel Jr. He also succeeded as town clerk, holding the position until his death. He served four years in all as sesectman and was the first town treasurer, the office being created for him in 1747. History of Hampton says nothing about his business.
