Henry was born on April 27th, 1817.  Henry's father was Henry Dow and his mother was Elizabeth Fabyan.  His paternal grandparents were Isaac Dow and Elizabeth Seavey. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Isaac, George, Thomas, Joseph, Elizabeth and Martha.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named William, Martha and Hannah.
