Dorothy was born in 1714 in Aghadowey, Londonderry, Ulster County, Ireland.1   Dorothy's father was Robert Blair and her mother was Isabel Rankin.  Her paternal grandfather was Robert Blair and her paternal grandmother is <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were David Rankin and <Unknown>. She had eight brothers and four sisters, named Matthew, David, John, William, James, Francis, Robert, Joseph, Dolly, Sarah, Elizabeth and Mary.  She was the sixth oldest of the thirteen children.
