William was born on August 12th, 1778 in Pennsylyania.  William's father was Richard Tennant and his mother was Elizabeth Haught.  His paternal grandfather was Richard Tennant and his paternal grandmother is Janet Wark. He had eight brothers and five sisters, named Peter, Richard II, Alexander, Joseph S., Adam, John, Abraham, Jacob Aron, Mary, Elizabeth, Margaret Ann, Catherine and Sarah Catherine.  He died at the age of 91 on September 20th, 1869 in Miracel Run,Monongalia co. West Virginia.
