Robert was born in 1791 in Trimley St. Mary,Suffolk and his baptism took place there on February 20th, 1791.1   Robert's father was Robert Topple and his mother was Martha Cook.  His maternal grandparents were Robert Cook and Elizabeth Howchin. He had two brothers and two sisters, named John, George, Mary and Sarah.  He was the oldest of the five children. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Samuel, Isaac, Henry, Lydia and Elizabeth.
