Sarah was born in 1786 in Wallasey, Cheshire, England.  Sarah's father was Thomas Rogers and her mother was Alice Cathron.  Her paternal grandparents were John Rogers and Sarah A. She had two brothers and a sister, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Thomas, Alexander, Mary and James.  She was the youngest of the five children.
