Katherine was born in July 1792 in Campbeltown, Argyllshire and her baptism took place on July 7th, 1792.  Katherine's father was Neil MacMillan and her mother was Isabell McConochy. She had six sisters named Isabel, Margaret, Ann, Jean, Charlotte and Ann.  She was the youngest of the seven children.
