Ann was born in September 1778 in Campbeltown, Argyllshire and her baptism took place on October 1st, 1778.  Ann's father was Neil MacMillan and her mother was Isabell McConochy. She had six sisters named Isabel, Margaret, Jean, Charlotte, Ann and Katherine.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.
