Antal's father was Antal Drobny/Guóth and his mother was Julianna Papp.  His paternal grandparents were György Drobny and Katalin Zilinsky. He had six brothers and two sisters, named János, Ignác, Gábor, István, Gábor, Sándor, Bibianna and Rozália.  He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named József, Károly, Anna, Teréz, Katalin and Jozefa.
