Fanny was born in 1833.  Fanny's father was George Groom and her mother was Eleanor Turner. She had six brothers and four sisters, named James, Isaac, Miles, Elijah, Isaac, George, Eliza, Maria, Charlotte and Martha.  She was the third oldest of the eleven children.
