José Jerónimo was born on May 23rd, 1789 in Cuba.  José Jerónimo's father was Vicente De Sucre y García de Urbaneja and his mother was María Manuela De Alcalá y Sánchez.  His paternal grandparents are Antonio De Sucre and Josefa Margarita García de Urbaneja y Sanchez; his maternal grandfather was Pedro De Alcalá y Rendón and his maternal grandmother is Juana Geronima Sanchez Vallenilla. He had five brothers and three sisters, named José María, Vicente, Pedro, Antonio José, Francisco, María Josefa, María Agua Santa and María Magdalena.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He had a half-brother named Juan Manuel.  He died at the age of 65 on October 17th, 1854 in La Asuncion, Margarita.
