Samuel Skidmore

Samuel was born in 1709 in Jamaica, Long Island, Queens, New York.¹ Samuel's father was Samuel Scudder and his mother was Susannah Welling. His paternal grandparents were John Skidmore and Susannah Davis; his maternal grandparents are Thomas Welling and Mary. He had five brothers and six sisters, named John, Thomas, Andrew, Joseph, Jeremiah, Susanna, Abigail, Phebe, Hannah, Patience and Elizabeth. He had three half-sisters named Susanah, Pebe and Patience. He died at the age of 72 on April 13th, 1781 in Flushing, Long Island, Kings, New York.¹

  Samuel married Mary, a daughter of John andHannah (Deane) Gray of
  Jamicia. Shr was born 20 Dec. 1710 and died 27 Nov. 1781 and may have been
  hios step-sister. Pages36,37 in the Skidmore book, gives an account of
  his successful business life. He was killed by a bullet shot through his
  window. He had four children.
