Obadiah Franklin Beene 
Obadiah was born on December 15th, 1785 in Washington County, Tennessee. Obadiah's father was Captain Robert Bean Sr. (Beene) and his mother was Martha (Womack) Beene. His paternal grandparents were Capt. William R. (Billy) Bean Jr and Lydia (Rusell) Beene. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named Lemuel, John, William, Robert, Oliver, Jesse, Benjamin, Rhoda, Elizabeth, Isaac, Sally and Martha. He was the third oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 54 on July 23rd, 1840.General Notes

Obadiah Beene was the first ancestor of the family to change the name from Bean to Beene. In a letter to his siblings found in an old family Bible, Obadiah exclaims that he no longer wishes to share the same last name as the slaves in his possession, since they had adopted the name upon coming into his possession. He changed the last name and the rest of the family followed suit.
