Adel Ibrahim was born in 1949 in Khartoum.  Adel Ibrahim's father was Ibrahim Mohamed Aref and his mother was Rawhaya Abbas Sabri.  His paternal grandparents were Mohamed Aref and Husna Atabani Suwar Al Dahab; his maternal grandparents were Abbas  Mohamed Ismail Sabri and Wageedah Disouki. He has two brothers and two sisters, named Emad Ibrahim Mohamed, Amr , Faten Ibrahim and Olfat Ibrahim.  He is the oldest of the five children.
