Olfat Ibrahim was born in 1953 in Khartoum.  Olfat Ibrahim's father was Ibrahim Mohamed Aref and her mother was Rawhaya Abbas Sabri.  Her paternal grandparents were Mohamed Aref and Husna Atabani Suwar Al Dahab; her maternal grandparents were Abbas  Mohamed Ismail Sabri and Wageedah Disouki. She has three brothers and a sister, named Adel Ibrahim, Emad Ibrahim Mohamed, Amr  and Faten Ibrahim.  She is the third oldest of the five children.
