Benon was born on June 10th, 1928 in Poznan, Poland.  Benon's father was Tomasz Bromberek and his mother was Marianna Jakubowska.  His paternal grandparents were Antoni Bromberek and Josepha Brzezynska; his maternal grandparents were Jozef Jakubowski and Michalina Wladysiak. He had a brother and five sisters, and also two siblings of unknown gender, named Wladyslaw, Kazimiera, Joanna, Wanda, Helena, Barbara, Stillborn and Infant death.

‌Benon and Weronika were married on August 23rd, 1954.  They had two sons named Zbigniew and Andrzej.
