Barbara was born on November 22nd, 1926 in Poland. Barbara's father was Tomasz Bromberek and her mother was Marianna Jakubowska.  Her paternal grandparents were Antoni Bromberek and Josepha Brzezynska; her maternal grandparents were Jozef Jakubowski and Michalina Wladysiak. She had two brothers and four sisters, and also two siblings of unknown gender, named Wladyslaw, Benon, Kazimiera, Joanna, Wanda, Helena, Stillborn and Infant death.

‌Barbara and Kazimierz were divorced.  They had two daughters named Maria and Teresa.

‌Barbara and Peter are married.
