John was born in 1709 in Stafford Co, VA.  John's father was William Going and his mother was Catherine TBD.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Going and Catherine. He had three brothers and a sister, named Ambrose, Alexander, William and Susannah.  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 52 in 1761 in Mecklenburg Co, VA (Present LOC).
