Alexander was born in 1708 in Lunenburg Co, VA.  Alexander's father was William Going and his mother was Catherine TBD.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Going and Catherine. He had three brothers and a sister, named Ambrose, John, William and Susannah.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 67 in 1775 in Orange Co, NC.
