Karel Boromhäus Emanuel was born on April 2nd, 1842 in Žehušice.  Karel Boromhäus Emanuel's father was Josef Matyáš Thun-Hohenstein and his mother was Františka Romana Thun-Hohenstein.  His paternal grandfather was Josef Jan Thun-Hohenstein and his paternal grandmother is Marie Josefa Schrattenbach, von; his maternal grandparents were Antonín de Paula Josef Adalbert Thun-Hohenstein and Terezie Vratislavová z Mitrovic. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Josef Oswald I., Maximilian Josef, Quidobald Josef Antonín, Sigmund Ignác, Jindøich Jan Nepomuk, Kristian Gabriel, Christiana and Filipina.  He was the youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 89 on October 8th, 1931 in Salzburg.
