Anne was born in 1735. Anne's father was Wilhelm Hesse-Philippsthal-Barchfeld, von and her mother was Charlotte Wilhelmine Anhalt-Bernburg-Hoym, von. Her paternal grandparents were Philipp Hesse-Philippsthal, Von and Katharine Amalie Solms-Laubach, von; her maternal grandparents were Lebrecht Anhalt-Bernburg-Hoym, von and Eberhardine Weede, von. She had nine brothers and five sisters, named Wilhelm, Friedrich, Philipp, Karl Wilhelm, Georg, Christian, Ludwig Friedrich, Adolf, August, Charlotte, Johanna Charlotte, Karoline, Ulrike Eleonore and Dorothea. She was the nineth oldest of the fifteen children. She died at the age of 50 in 1785.
